The Revelation of Jesus Christ to the apostle John is a book that is talked about, discussed, argued on by many different people.

And it’s one subject that I really wasn’t interested in talking about in this podcast. But this podcast is about taking difficult Christian subjects and trying to make them a little bit simpler.

So, I’ve had many people ask me about Revelation before and the end times and about Armageddon. And I realized that Armageddon isn’t actually talked about in Revelation. Well, the actual word isn’t there, but it is talked about.

So, let’s look at the beginning of the book.

Revelation 1:1 says, The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants, the things that must soon take place.

And Jesus was very specific on what we need to do to prepare for the End Times, but it’s not what you think.

The book of Revelation is a warning about what’s to come. And it also gives us an idea of what we’re going to go through as Christians when the times do come. there will be a time of Tribulation, and I know again, the word tribulation isn’t actually in the book of Revelation, but the Tribulation is talked about in the book of Revelation.

I’m not going to get into specifics and semantics, but Jesus did talk very specifically about what we are supposed to do.

But he didn’t say a word of it in Revelation.

There are two very specific passages that Jesus used to tell us what to do to prepare for the End Times. The first one is to love one another.

John 13:34. A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.

We’re supposed to love our friends, our neighbors and our enemies. That’s the first thing that we’re supposed to do to prepare for the End Times.

The second thing that we’re supposed to do is to go and make disciples.

Matthew 28:19-20. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Jesus was very specific on these two things that we’re supposed to do; love one another, make disciples. We’re not supposed to be preparing for the End Times, we’re not supposed to be hoarding food, or doing any works to prepare for the End Times.

Praying, of course. We’re supposed to pray about everything at all times. So praying is definitely something that we’re supposed to be doing for the End Times.

Yes, Jesus is warning us and telling us about what’s going to happen, but he’s not giving us anything that we should be doing when it comes.

All he says is pray, love one another and make disciples.

So whenever you think about Revelation, or talk about Revelation, talk about the end times or the Tribulation, remember, that’s what we’re supposed to do. Whether we’re in the end times or not. As long as we’re alive, the two things that we need to do are to love each other and to make disciples.
